Photo's from The Weekend....

On Saturday, a couple of friends came down because they wanted to see some Snowy Owls. So - my wife and I took them to Salisbury State Reservationi, where a few owls frequent, and then on to Plum Island. Turned out to be a great day, with tons of sightings.

Who knew? I'm turning into some kind of Marlin Friggin Perkins wildlife dude! All I need now is the khaki shirt and shorts!!  Here's a few shots from the day....

From a distance, Snowy's can be difficult to spot - but from within 30 yards or so, they're hard to miss. As birders and folks line the road to see them- I swear, sometimes it feels like they're putting on a show...

Like this one...

And sometimes, at low tide, the seals like to bask in the sun near the Salisbury boat ramp. Apparently nobody told them it was 18 degrees!

And the one thing I've learned about shooting wildlife- never take your focus off the animals - because if you do - you miss moments like this....

And from down on the Plum Island Wildlife Refuge....

My wife spotted this deer, hidden in the brush, about 25 yards from the road. It saw us, but didn't spook. We watched it for about 15 minutes or so - and then left it undisturbed. Pretty cool seeing all this stuff in a matter of a couple of hours.

You know, there's no secret to it. All I do is look. People have commented and emailed me on how I find the things I find - and the answer is simple, and two-fold: I make the time to do it, and I look. Sometimes I come up empty - and sometimes I get lucky. This was a lucky day. Its that simple. Regardless of whether  you have a camera or not- all of this stuff is right here waiting to be seen - you just have to take the time to look -
